“Wax on, wax off.”

Remember the days when those words brought to mind happy memories and not painful experiences? Actually, “wax on” is not the bad guy. It’s the utterance of “wax off” that serves as the trigger that sends some girls into a PTSD* flashback. And with good reason! The “wax off” part of the equation can be quite brutal. Really think about it…melted wax! Melted, HOT wax…on your most delicate parts! Is it me or is something very wrong here?

Unbelievably, some girls claim that they actually like it and gladly return for more. Gwyneth Paltrow actually stated some years ago that having a Brazilian wax at J Sisters (salon) here in NYC, “changed her life.” Do you think she really meant for the better? Uhmm,…that’s a hard one to call when on the other hand, we have actress Lisa Barbuscia’s comments on record about her first Brazilian wax: “It was so painful I collapsed. I only fainted, but I was nearly carted off to the hospital and I have vowed never to try it again.”

Enough said.

If you have also vowed to never again put yourself through that for any man–even your Mr. Big–I have the perfect solution for “faking” a wax: Magic Skin Conditioning Shaving Powder by SoftSheen-Carson. And it is indeed “magic.”

Magic Skin Conditioning Shaving Powder was initially developed for black men. Black men are more prone to developing ingrown hairs and razor bumps after shaving because of their curlier hair texture. This shaving powder minimizes razor bumps with its gentle formulation and skin conditioning properties. Skin soothing ingredients include jojoba oil, aloe vera, Vitamin E (as well as castor, coconut and apricot kernel oils).

Before use, you mix the powder with water to form a creamy paste. You then apply it, leave it on for 5-7 minutes and remove with a small spatula. In comparison to other depilatories, e.g., Nair, Neet, etc., it is less irritating and produces results closest to a waxing: Super soft, baby-smooth skin. And I know it’s so cliché to say, but your neither regions will really feel just like a baby’s behind. (A baby’s behind without diaper rash!)

And the best part? It’s painless. I must admit that the smell isn’t flowery, but it’s preferable to torture on any day.

Magic Shave is now offered as a pre-mixed cream (in a tube). It is available in several varieties. Cost $2.99-$3.99.
