Well, it seems another one bites the dust. Kira Plastinina stores nationwide will soon be closing due to the economic climate. Kira who, you ask? That would be Kira, a 16-year-old self proclaimed “fashion designer” and daughter of Sergei Plastinin, a Russian dairy producer and billionaire. (You can probably guess where this is going, eh?)
From all reports, Kira’s clothing line is quite popular in Russia, where daddy bankrolled 70 stores. However, here in the U.S.–where her first store just opened last May–not so much. The U.S. store count is now at 12, but business has been slow. Extremely. Slow. Even paying Paris Hilton and Chris Brown for special appearances to promote the stores didn’t help. So as quickly as they went up, the stores are now about to come down. Crashing. But not before U.S. shoppers get some real incentive to actually buy something…for 50% off, that is. The half-off markdowns have already taken effect in-store and online.
Though the fashions by “designer” Kira Plastinin leave a whole heck of a lot to be desired, pre-teens/teens might enjoy some of the offerings. If you have to shop for a young girl this holiday season, it’s worth a look. But, if you pick the wrong thing, don’t go blaming me.

TCS Tip: U.S. stores are located in NYC, California, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Nevada.
