Good Deals: More sheaths at H&M, great shoes at Target

If you like sheath dresses, you are in luck! H&M‘s fall collection includes a nice little selection of sheaths retailing for about $34.90. Color selection is limited to black & gray (including a cute, little pinstriped number), but I’m not complaining…I love black and gray, especially for fall.

TCS Tip: Make sure to try on the dresses even if you think you know your H&M size. I haven’t gained any weight, but I couldn’t fully zip up the gray pinstriped sheath dress in my normal size. That particular dress is reminiscent of my favorite H&M body-hugging, black sheath from last season, but apparently the patterns have been cut even smaller this time around.

I also wanted to take a moment to give you all a heads-up about some great shoe deals at Target. Tarjay has some really cute shoes right now in metallic hues. I know, I know you’re thinking fall is almost here and metallic hues are so last season. Well, darling, according to the fashion gods themselves, the metallic trend WILL continue into fall. Metallic flats are going to be very popular…especially in silver, I hear. But, regardless of what the fashion gods may preach, I think that having some metallic colors in your shoe wardrobe is a smart move–pick colors like bronze and pewter (as opposed to the more trendy gold & silver). Sometimes when you can’t find the right color for a particular outfit and the usual black, brown or nude just won’t do, a metallic shoe can be a savior.

I’ve purchased two pairs of great-looking metallic shoes from Target. They aren’t leather and only put me back $29.99 a pair. Yet, I will bet you that no one would guess that they are not department store offerings as they do not look cheap and are quite commanding when paired with the right outfits.

The Isaac Mizrahi for Target “Flora” peep-toe gold flats are comfortable and true-to-size. The three pale shades of gold intertwined in the front of the shoe is a nice touch that gives the shoe a pricier look. The best part: these little gems look great with everything! I’ve worn them with bermuda shorts, jeans, white pants and a skirt and they complimented each of them beautifully. And I repeat: they do not look at all cheap…Isaac Mizrahi is really stepping up his game at Target.

I purchased the last available pair of the Isaac Mizrahi for Target “Marissa” crinkle patent wedge sandals at my local Tarjay today. After realizing I desperately needed wanted some bronze heels to go with some items in my wardrobe, I visited several department & shoe stores this week and came up empty-handed. Luckily, I thought to head over to Tarjay to see if they had any metallics left. I missed out on the bronze wedges, as they were sold out, but I settled for the Marissa shoes in pewter as they were even more beautiful and worked with my outfits. The shoes are not leather, but due to the “crinkle patent” effect, it’s hard to tell unless someone is giving them a really, close inspection. These wedges look really nice with dresses and I find them to be quite roomy and comfortable in the toe area. Furthermore, the reasonable heel height makes them a great shoe for work.

These wedges are on clearance at Target.com and are available in bronze, pewter ($20.99) and black ($14.99). The bronze shoes were apparently the most popular as most sizes are already sold out. Just my luck! (I guess fashionista minds think alike.)

TCS Tip: The Marissa wedges are on clearance online, but not necessarily in your local store. Note that Target does not tend to match their online prices. I purchased the shoes today for $29.99, even though they are available online for $20.99. (Keep in mind that once you add shipping charges, there won’t be much difference in price.)
